Another music video was released for Diddy-Dirty Money’s debut album Last Train to Paris. This time we get to see Diddy with Chris Brown for the song Yesterday.

It has been a long time since Chris Brown got my attention musically. Chris makes beautiful melody choices in the song. His singing in Yesterday is so full of frustration. It feels like Chris Brown is singing the essence of the cliche that goes, “one step forward, two steps back”.

Chris started with the line “yesterday I fell in love”, and he sounded good and made it sound like a tragedy, and that’s even without going to the next line “today feels like my funeral”. At first, I didn’t even mind the lyrics, but Chris’ singing gave me the feeling of being stuck, the desperation that comes from it, and the desire that causes it. I have nothing but praise for his singing here, even the second voice is wonderfully rich with emotion. Maybe it helps that he co-wrote the song along with Drake, Cri$tyle, K-Mac, and Mario Winans.

Diddy, on the other hand, I have nothing to rave about in this song. It feels like the same old Diddy. In fact, I kind of feel bored with his verses. He felt a little cold and distant if I may say so. Maybe it was intended that way. But I can’t really be sure. Just as I can’t be sure why the girls from Dirty Money are not in the video.

The video is directed by Colin Tilley. Watch and listen to “Yesterday” below.
