David Archuleta previews “Somewhere Only We Know” from upcoming album
American Idol season 7 alum David Archuleta has let out a snippet of his cover of “Somewhere Only We Know.” The track will be one of the songs included in his upcoming album BEGIN.
The original version of “Somewhere Only We Know” was released by English alt rock band Keane. Another American Idol alum, Blake Lewis, also performed this song during his run at the Top 24. More recently, US musical TV series Glee also made use of the song with Darren Criss doing lead vocals along with the Warblers.
David’s new album BEGIN. is scheduled to come out on August 7. The album will consist of 10 tracks, one of which is “Broken,” an original written by David Archuleta himself. The other tracks will all be covers of songs ranging from Christina Aguilera’s “Beautiful” to REM’s “Everybody Hurts” to Simon & Garfunkel’s “Bridge Over Troubled Water.”

It's gorgeous. I love David's voice and singing. David worked so hard to create new stuff for fans before he started his 2-year church mission. He was leading man in a 25-episode Philippines miniseries Nandito Ako, then recorded Forevermore and did videos for that, then came back to the US and worked on BEGIN. through the day before his mission started. His mission started Mar 28 2012. BTW he's DavidArchie on twitter – he's not allowed to tweet but he can email every week or two. His manager Kari is updating David's twitter with news, treats and bits from David's emails. I am really looking forward tot his album. Forevermore is so beautiful and I already preordered BEGIN. #DA2014
