DannieBoi featuring Malice – Rollin Up

DannieBoi (aka Dannie Farmer) is an up and coming R&B solo act, and he’s part-Filipino (mother side). He grew up mainly in the US, but is now based in Manila to pursue his music career. He also appears in Rachelle Ann Go’s music video for “This Time I’ll Be Sweeter”.
My favorite among DannieBoi’s songs that I watched in Youtube is “Rollin Up.” The song, along with his other songs, actually reminds me of “No Diggity” by Blackstreet, and other songs with the influence of Pharell Williams from N*E*R*D. The tempo is upbeat enough for dancing, and also slow enough to listen to on an idle Sunday afternoon while chilling with friends. DannieBoi’s music seem not to focus on gangsta culture, instead his sound seems to focus on making good music At least to me it does. And that’s how I like my urban r&b—the attitude and style only becoming accessories to highlight the music itself. I wish there was a more upbeat remix though that lends more readily to dancing in the clubs.
Here’s the official video to his new single “Artista” featuring Q-York. For more of his music, visit DannieBoi’s MySpace profile. Enjoy!
