Alicia Keys‘ upcoming album is called Girl on Fire. It sure feels like a long time since Alicia Keys put out a new album. Her last studio album The Element of Freedom was released late 2009.

“When you hear it, it’s a new me… With Girl on Fire, I want to move you and surprise you,” she promises in her blog post. “Girl on Fire is about new beginnings, new perspective and fresh starts… stripping away all the bad energy in your life and taking full control of the reigns and how you want to live. There is something really empowering about finding yourself and your own inner strength,” she continues.

No release date has been set for the new album, but Alicia Keys did recently leak a new song “New Day” via Soundcloud. More recently, a music video for the song has come up on her Youtube account.

I love how it’s a collection of Instagram photos from her fans and short clips. It’s like a collection of moments that just make you smile. Sometimes the moment is about an event, like a graduation or a marriage ceremony. Other moments feel Zen-like in their simplicity like a video clip of a dragonfly or a picture of flowers at sunset. Taking everything together, the music video feels so much like waking up nicely to a celebration of life’s joys. “There’s no limitation, no / fill up your life / let me see your hands up.”
