“There Goes My Baby” is a slow and heartfelt ballad from Usher’s 2010 album “Raymond v Raymond.” This is just the kind of sound Usher is known for (aside from his more upbeat songs). His past successes that came from slow songs like this include some of my favorites like “Confessions” and “Burn.”
My favorite line from this song goes “Put on my heart / You don’t need a ring / And I promise our time away / Won’t change my love.” The song speaks of a love that just is; the feelings are proof enough that the love is real. Even if you are apart or even if you grow apart, the love stays. Hopeless romantic, am I? ;)
I like this song much better than “DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love,” but I will admit that I do think “There Goes My Baby” will sell less than the more upbeat collaboration with Pitbull.
Song trivia: Rico Love, who wrote the lyrics to the song, admitted to the New York Times that the line “Like waterfalls, your hair falls down to your waist” refers to Usher’s former girlfriend Chili of R&B group TLC.
